Harmony Foundation: the Charitable Mission of the Barbershop Harmony Society

The Barbershop Harmony Society Charitable Mission is: ``to preserve our musical legacy through support of vocal music education in our schools and communities.``

In November 2000, the Barbershop Harmony Society Board of Directors unanimously adopted a resolution declaring that,

"it shall be the Charitable Mission of the Barbershop Harmony Society to preserve our musical legacy through support of vocal music education in our schools and communities"

The Society accomplishes this mission through the Harmony Foundation, a charitable and educational foundation affiliated with the Barbershop Harmony Society.

Scottish Rite:
This is our main local charity. We support their Child Language Clinic for vocally impaired children.

Youth Outreach:
We support Youth Outreach by helping local high schools to learn and perfect accapella music, primarily in the barbershop style. We supplied four part learning tapes and music to Santa Rosa High School, El Molino High School, Maria Carillo High School, Piner High School, and Hanna Boys' Center.

Sing America:
Part of the Society's effort to promote manpower for school and ensemble contests, these schools are often invited to perform in chapter shows.
